WHERE I'VE BEEN: KUROKAWA ONSEN, ASO, JAPAN

The first onsen place let me felt THIS IS HEAVEN

Kurokawa onsen is located at Aso area, Kumamoto, Japan
Not my first experience to hot spring, but Kurokawa is unforgettable
Kurokawa is not a huge tourist spot like Hakone near Tokyo. Kurokawa is more like a hidden village, you can just come and relax, enjoying the hot spring surrounded by quietness and nature.
Kurokawa is well known for its environment and high quality of Japanese style hotel.

When you visit Kurokawa onsen, you will find out there is not only hotels but also different types of inn and hot spring facilities for day return tourist.
It's always a good idea go visit the Tourist Center around the area. They will have every information that you want to know and there is always someone there to help you.

It was NOV 2009 I visited Kurokawa for the first time.
My sisters and I wanna go some area in Japan which is famous for onsen but not too crowd and we can enjoy a lazy trip.
We decide do rental car to start our journey, because seriously, it will takes you forever to get there by using public transportation.

Kurokawa have difference faces in different season.
It was end of fall sadly we missed out the beautiful maple season.

Kurowaka onsen area is not a good place if you wanna do crazy souvenir shopping, not many restaurant and shops is around the area. Most of the travelers will stay for a night or two and usually you can decide you want to include hotel meal within the stay or not.

When you walk around the village you can see some banners says "Foot Spa"
that means you can pay a little amount of money to enjoy onsen spa for your feet.

The main point for this trip is hot spring....onsen.
The Japanese style onsen hotel we booked provide perfect services and beautiful spa.
I'm not going to introduce the hotel because there's variety of them in the area, depends on people's budget and inquiry there are different types of hotels that you can choose.
One point about the hotels around the area is, one hotels only have limited rooms that you can book, some of them only have 10 rooms in one hotel in total, some of them have 20.
This policy makes Kurokawa area special, because the Kurokawa onsen committee want to keep the quality of the services that hotel provide to maintain their high reputation for the onsen area.

I believe the committee's decision is correct. Every year, we can always find Kurokawa onsen is in the best top 10 onsen of Japan.

If I can go for onsen trip again, Kurokawa is always the place I wanna visit again and again.
